GEORGETOWN, Texas — Williamson County Emergency Medical Services will host its second annual Trunk or Treat event Saturday, Oct. 17, offering families an opportunity to celebrate Halloween while meeting local first responders.
The free event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at East View High School, 4490 E. University Ave. in Georgetown. The celebration is open to all ages.
Children can collect Halloween candy, explore emergency vehicles and interact with first responders from several local, state and federal agencies.
The event will feature touch-a-truck activities, safety demonstrations, raffles and giveaways.
Organizers also are encouraging attendees to support two charitable organizations serving Central Texas families.
Families can bring nonperishable food donations for the Central Texas Food Bank or new, unwrapped toys for Brown Santa, a holiday assistance program.
Attendees who contribute donations will be eligible to enter a raffle for prizes.
Several public safety and emergency response agencies are scheduled to participate, giving families an opportunity to learn about their equipment, responsibilities and services.
Participating organizations include the Texas Department of Public Safety Mounted Patrol, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and STAR Flight.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office SWAT team, Williamson County constables and the FBI also are expected to participate.
Other participating agencies include Williamson County Animal Control, Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, Williamson County Office of Emergency Management and Williamson County Emergency Communications.
Additional organizations also are expected to take part in the festivities.
The event combines traditional Halloween activities with opportunities for children and parents to interact with emergency personnel in a family-friendly setting.
