LEANDER, Texas — The Leander Fire and Police departments will conduct a joint emergency response training exercise Oct. 18 near Metro Drive and U.S. 183.

The exercise, scheduled from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., will involve CapMetro and neighboring cities, according to an announcement from the Leander Fire Department.

The training will include train operations and a simulated emergency incident, allowing participating agencies to conduct a coordinated response exercise.

Residents and motorists traveling through the area may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, first responders and temporary road signs.

Officials are asking the public to follow posted signs and directions from emergency personnel during the exercise.

The fire department emphasized that the activity is planned and does not represent an actual emergency.

Residents should not call 911 to report activity associated with the training exercise.
